93% of guests who stay at No Vacancy Genova originally came to visit somewhere else.
Cinque Terre, mostly. Some Portofino. A few the Italian Riviera in a general sense. Genova was the base, the practical choice, the city they picked because it was close and cheaper.
And then something happened.
The Number That Surprised Us
When we started asking guests what they'd actually spent their time doing, we found that the majority — the majority — had spent more days in Genova than in the place they originally came to see. They'd done Cinque Terre in one day, sometimes two. And then they'd just... stayed in Genova.
Exploring the caruggi. Going back to the bar they'd found on day two. Walking to Boccadasse in the evening. Sitting on the terrace.
Why This Keeps Happening
Genova is not a city that gives itself up immediately. The first day you're still calibrating, still finding your way. By day two something starts to shift. By day three, most guests understand why people who live here rarely leave.
Cinque Terre is beautiful. It is also — especially in high season — very crowded, expensive for what it is, and best experienced in a few hours. Genova is something you live in rather than visit.
